Late in the afternoon, one would walk past a few women, maybe some almost naked children, collecting shells that had been washed in by the tide. The women were very bony, and looked much older than they must have been. After walking into one of the several hundred dollar a night resorts that line the beach right about where she was, the contrast between the life of a fisherman and the foreigners who come to the beach for rest and relaxation was just about too much to bear.
